Two Carrick primary schools have received glowing reports from inspectors.
Colmonell and Barr Primaries and their Early Years Centres both received inspections from Education Scotland earlier this year.
It was an A+ for Colmonell Primary School and Early Years Centre who received a ‘very good’ rating across all areas examined.
The inspection team, who visited the school in April, praised the strong leadership of the headteacher who has improved attainment and supports families and the local community. The highly skilled staff team were also commended.
Staff are said to “nurture positive and caring relationships”, and children are supported to lead their own learning, as well as being “confident, curious and engaged.”
Councillor Martin Dowey, Leader of South Ayrshire, visited the school to celebrate the glowing inspection report alongside Councillor Stephen Ferry, Education Portfolio Holder, and local Councillors.
Cllr Ferry said: “The head teacher and staff at Colmonell Primary School and Early Years Centre should be extremely proud of this achievement.
“I’m sure the school will continue to work with parents and the wider community to build on this success and maintain the extremely high standards that were identified in the report.”
Barr Primary School and Early Years Centre welcomed inspectors in May and received ‘very good’ and ‘good’ ratings across examined areas.
Key strengths of the school stated the headteacher and staff “have developed an inclusive ethos that promotes children’s wellbeing and confidence.”
Inspectors noted that “almost all children in the school and Early Years Centre are engaged and motivated to learn”, and teachers have “a strong understanding of the wide range of learning needs children have” across the
