Plans to build more than 300 new homes on the site of a former playing field in Gorton have been revealed.
Greater Manchester Youth Federation (GMYF), Kellen Homes, and Centrepoint are seeking planning permission to construct 36 independent living apartments and 267 homes on the land, as well as two new grass football pitches and a community hub at the former Mellands playing fields.
In total, 60 of the 267 planned new homes will be designated as 'affordable', delivered in partnership with Southway Housing Trust in a mix of shared ownership and social rent.

The independent living apartments will be operated by Centrepoint, a charity which is campaigning to end youth homelessness. The proposed community hub at the site is planned to become the new home to GMYF's programme of youth-focused events.
Karen Wilson, chief executive of GMYF, said: “The planning submission marks a key milestone in our mission to create a vibrant and inclusive space for the youth and community in Gorton and surrounding areas.
“The proposed youth hub and football pitches will provide a home for our extensive programme of youth-focused activities and provide safe spaces for young people in the area.
“Our proposals received a very warm welcome from the local community during our consultation earlier this year and we were astounded at the positive comments we received to create a new youth, sports and community hub in the area."
