Great just got greater at the Great Manchester Run. The 10K and half marathon distances have been popular with local runners of all ages and abilities for almost two decades, but organisers are pulling out all of the stops to make sure this year will be the best yet.
New for 2022, runners can look forward to a live start line DJ pumping out a high energy set to help them find their groove for the challenge ahead. Timed pacers, there to make sure runners have the best possible chance of smashing out a personal best, will be powered by music, blasting out tunes all along the course to keep motivation high.
The Run Thru Madchester Zone, a brand-new on-course entertainment area, will be 50 meters of madness, complete with a wall of sound, power up boards and super soakers. As they cross the line this year, runners will also have the chance to enjoy an Après Run zone for the very first time.
Billed as the perfect place for post-race celebrations, the afterparty will feature more great music as well as food and drink stalls, with full details on this exciting new addition expected later this month. Get ready for one or two post-race selfies with their bigger and better medals, featuring an exclusive design that encapsulates everything that makes Manchester great.
All of this is in addition to the unforgettable Great Manchester Run experience that runners know and love, including more than 20 on course music and entertainment zones. Here’s what else you can expect to see (and of course hear) whether you’re taking part or cheering on this year:
