Erik ten Hag has said defeat by Newcastle in the Carabao Cup final won't derail Manchester United's progress, although he's hopeful he can win his first trophy in England to have a positive impact on the team.
Jose Mourinho was the last manager to win a trophy at Old Trafford - the Europa League in 2017. The club is currently suffering its worst trophy drought in over 40 years, but Ten Hag has the opportunity to end that barren run this weekend.
United will take on Newcastle at Wembley in the final of the Carabao Cup on Sunday afternoon and Ten Hag's side are the favourites to lift the League Cup trophy, which the Reds last won against Southampton, also under Mourinho in 2017.

Ten Hag discussed the importance of winning his first trophy in Manchester, but he also warned that a defeat at Wembley on Sunday would not derail his rebuild.
"It’s massive [winning first trophy], but first you need to get the first one," Ten Hag said. "We now have the opportunity to get the first one and don’t think further ahead, because that doesn’t make sense, it doesn’t help you.
"It’s only about focussing and we have the opportunity Sunday. We have to put everything we have in to get the trophy, to bring it to Manchester. Focussing on the game is the only thing we can do at this moment.
"After, we will look further on what it means. Either you win and that’s good, that can have an impact, but if you don’t win it, there will be more opportunities and you have to carry on the process. We are still in a good direction that can’t be dependent on one game.
