Former EastEnders actor Ross Kemp has confessed that he still thinks of Barbara Windsor every day - and keeps a photo of her on his living room wall.
The TV hardman, 59, worked with the iconic actress, who played his on-screen mum, Queen Vic barmaid Peggy Mitchell, for many years - and she clearly made a huge impact on his life.
The two actors formed a strong bond on set playing mother and son - and Ross, who played Peggy’s son Grant, has opened up on his precious memories of the late Dame in a moving chat with The Sun. .
The pair were so close that Ross even agreed to return to Albert Square in 2016 to take part in Barbara’s devastating exit storyline - when the actress’s worsening Alzheimer’s symptoms meant she could no longer work. Last December marked three years since ‘Babs’ passing aged 83 following a long battle with Alzheimer’s - and Ross admits he has thought about her ever single day since.
He said: "She's someone that I loved, and I spoke to, I spent a lot of time with. "I've got a picture of her in my house, so I bounce past that every day - it's a picture of her when she was about 23, wearing not very much, funnily enough, but I don't think of her in that way! I was just very fond of her.
"And she was one of those old big stars, you know, probably the like of which we will never see again. And she was a friend and I was very close to her." Recalling their close relationship on set, the actor-turned-documentary maker said: "The set at the Vic is a bar, obviously, that goes around in a sort of semi horseshoe, and then there's a stairwell that goes up through the middle of it, and that stairs goes nowhere.
"It goes up into some lights. But I'd let her sit on the stairs and I'd sit on a crate and we just natter in
