A whopping 55,000 counterfeit items were seized - including unsafe hand sanitiser and vape liquid - in a huge trading standards sting. The man responsible for the shady goods, Suraj Singh, found himself in court following the operation.
Among the 22 offences he admitted was the 'unlawful use' of a Walt Disney Giney representation. Mr Singh, trading as 'Justt' Vape Ltd, at Overbridge Road, Broughton, Salford, has been handed a 12-month sentence, suspended for two years.
The 34-year-old, formerly of Highclere Avenue, Broughton, but not of Southall, London, appeared at Manchester Crown Court. Goods were seized from his business premises.

Mr Singh was ordered to pay £125,259 under the Proceeds of Crime Act having admitted a string of offences in September 2021 - 14 for breach of registered trademarks; two for breach of copyright; and six for the supply of unsafe products.
The court heard trading standards officers from Salford council were alerted following complaints about a counterfeit 'Vampire Empire' vape e-liquid. Officers visited in November 2019 with police and brand representatives and seized over 15,000 e-liquids, which were later confirmed to be infringing trademark and copyright laws.
One of the products had a Genie logo identical to the Disney character from Aladdin. It was used without consent from Walt Disney Ltd. Mr Singh, director of the company, told officers he had searched the web for the image.
