‘Davos 1917’ Producer Contrast Film Appoints Former Disney Exec Anke Beining As Commercial Managing Director (EXCLUSIVE)

Naman Ramachandran Filmmaker and actor Anurag Kashyap (“Leo”) and Gulshan Devaiah (“Duranga”) will headline Disney+ Hotstar Indian series “Bad Cop.” The series marks the fiction series debut for Fremantle India, hitherto known for reality shows “India’s Got Talent” and “Indian Idol.” The series, adapted from RTL’s German show “Bad Cop: Kriminell Gut” (2017) by Rensil D’Silva (“Bambai Meri Jaan”), is directed by Aditya Datt (“Crakk”). Devaiah plays Karan, a fierce cop trying to chase down Kazbe (Kashyap) a villain more powerful and deadly than him while simultaneously managing his personal relationships.

Nick Vivarelli International Correspondent Oscar-nominated Swiss animator Claude Barras (“My Life as a Zucchini”) will be honored by the Locarno Film Festival with its Locarno Kids Award given to personalities credited with infusing younger generations with a love for cinema. Barras’ beloved stop-motion film “Life as a Zucchini,” about an orphaned boy who lives in a foster home, played at Directors’ Fortnight in Cannes in 2016, and went on to be nominated for best animated feature at the Oscars and secured distribution in over 50 territories.

Selena Kuznikov Rupert Evans and Ewan Horrocks will lead the cast of a new four-part limited series, “Truth & Conviction,” for “Sound of Freedom” producer Angel Studios. Based on a true story, the follows Helmuth Hübener, a teenager who led a resistance group with his two friends during World War II in Hamburg, Germany. Evans will play Erwin Mussener, the SS Agent.

The film has been acquired in Italy by BiM Distribuzione and Lucky Red, Benelux by September Film Distribution, Spain by Bteam Pictures, Greece by Ama Films, Hungary by Cirko Film, Norway by Selmer Media, Portugal by Leopardo Filmes, Taiwan by Hooray Films and Turkey by Bir Film.
