16-time Grammy winning songwriter and producer David Foster has been working on a Betty Boop musical for over a decade and the show finally has a world premiere date!
BOOP! The Betty Boop Musical will have a pre-Broadway debut in Chicago at the end of the year with a limited six-week engagement.
David wrote the music for the show and he teamed up with Tony nominee Susan Birkenhead, who wrote the lyrics. Tony winner Bob Martin, best known for creating The Drowsy Chaperone and The Prom, wrote the book for the musical. Tony winner Jerry Mitchell will direct.
In BOOP!, Betty’s dream of an ordinary day off from the super-celebrity in her black-and-white world leads to an extraordinary adventure of color, music, and love in New York City—one that reminds her and the world, “You are capable of amazing things.” Boop-oop-a-doop!
Several years ago, David‘s wife Katharine McPhee debuted the song “Something To Shout About” from the musical. Casting for the Broadway show will be announced at a later date.

All six episodes will be released at once on Prime Video and available for streaming in over 240 countries and territories. The psychological thriller is a fresh take on director David Cronenberg’s 1988 film of the same name. “Dead Ringers” follows the complicated lives of twin gynecologists Elliot and Beverly Mantle, who perform ethically questionable procedures on infertile women. Rachel Weisz, best known for her roles in 2018’s “The Favourite” and 2017’s “Disobedience,” will star as both Mantle siblings.
