Manchester United have been told David de Gea did not get enough credit for his performances at the club following Andre Onana's start for the Reds.
De Gea left Old Trafford in the summer after Erik ten Hag was not able to reach a deal with the Spaniard. United's manager wanted to keep the 32-year-old but could not guarantee his position as first choice at the club.
United went on to sign Onana as his replacement but the shot stopper has come under fire for shipping goals. Most recently, the Cameroonian was blamed after Bayern Munich scored four to beat the Reds in the Champions League.

Onana blamed himself for the defeat in a post-match interview which he requested and while Robbie Savage found this admirable, he believes De Gea was lambasted unfairly during his last season at the club. Speaking toPlanet Sport Bet, the former United midfielder said: "Being Manchester United’s No.1, taking over from David de Gea, you have to hit the ground running.
"Manchester United wanted to play and play out from the back, but what David de Gea did, he kept the ball out of the net quite well and won the Golden Glove for Manchester United last season.
