Cristiano Ronaldo received a first red card since leaving Manchester United during a 2-1 Saudi Super Cup defeat on Monday night.
The Portuguese forward was booked during the first half of Al-Nassr's semi-final clash with Al-Hilal and was later shown a straight red card with four minutes of regular time remaining for elbowing Ali Al-Bulaihi. Ronaldo elbowed the Al-Hilal defender in the chest two times, who proceeded to fall to the ground, leaving the referee with little choice other than to dismiss the 39-year-old for his actions. Footage appeared to show Ronaldo raising his fist in the direction of the referee before sarcastically clapping the crowd as he made his way off the pitch.

Ronaldo is under contract with his current employers until the summer of 2025. It is unclear what his next step is likely to be after this, though the five-time Champions League winner made it clear in May of
