Coronation Street’s Ryan left fighting for his life after sepsis infection

Just weeks after falling victim to a brutal acid attack, it seems Coronation Street favourite Ryan Connor still can’t catch a break as he fell dangerously ill on Friday’s episode. In recent days, Ryan has been struggling to come to terms with the aftermath of his life-changing injuries, and relying more and more on Daisy Midgley as she posed as his DJ crush 'Crystal' to provide emotional support via text message.
Effectively catfishing Ryan by providing a friendly ear, Daisy realised it had gone too far and brutally dumped the ailing cobbles resident in his hour of need. Yet mere hours later, Ryan began to show symptoms that indicated an infection, with fans at home watching the heartbreaking scenes of him being violently sick before collapsing on the sofa.
Just before he fell unconscious, Ryan managed to reach out to ‘Crystal’ on the phone, leading Daisy to rush to his side and save the day. As Ryan struggled to fight for his life in hospital, medics revealed that he was suffering from sepsis, with his facial skin graft having been badly infected.
While doctors raced to stabilise his condition, a concerned Daisy was warned that they may even need to send him to ICU and consult with his surgeon about the viability of his existing skin graft - something which could potentially set his recovery back for several weeks. Fans at home were heartbroken to see Ryan face yet another brutal blow on his road to recovery, especially given that he had only been injured in the first place by defending his friend in the first place.
