The disappearance of a Scots girl who vanished after leaving school at lunchtime has been described as ‘out of character’ by police. An urgent search is underway in Wishaw to find Elle Sheridan, who has failed to make contact with her worried family.
The 14-year-old, who was wearing her school uniform, was last seen on the town’s Greenfield Street, near Coltness High School, but was reported missing after not returning home.
Police are checking CCTV footage in the area to trace the teenager’s movements but are appealing for help from members of the public to ensure she’s safe and well.
Elle is described as being around 5ft 5 in tall, with a medium build and blonde hair, which is highlighted at the front.
When last seen, she was wearing black trousers, black and white converse style trainers, a black jumper and a blue school blazer. She was believed to be carrying a black handbag.
Sergeant Greg Hunter has said “We are growing increasingly concerned for Elle’s welfare. No-one has heard from since she left school at lunchtime today.
“It is out of character for her not to be in touch with her family and her family just want her home safe and well. If anyone has seen Elle or has any information or knowledge as to her whereabouts, please contact us as a matter of urgency."
