Coleen Nolan opens up on devastating diagnosis which prompted life change

Coleen Nolan has shared that she's making big changes to her diet and lifestyle after a scary pre-diabetes diagnosis.
The Loose Women star was prompted to make the change after having some blood tests done following a bad chest infection. While the 58-year-old was happy to find out her lungs were okay, she was told she was at risk of getting type 2 diabetes.
This revelation meant doctors advised Coleen to move more and eat better, something which she has put into action.
Explaining how she found out, the TV personality said: "I was one-and-a-half marks off being diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. It was a shock but, looking back, I hadn't been feeling myself for some time.
I'd been experiencing terrible, abnormal fatigue, which would strike out of the blue, like in the middle of Tesco, and I'd have to stop what I was doing and go and sleep somewhere." Speaking to The Mirror, she continued: "And I kept getting skin infections that would take forever to heal. When I googled the symptoms, I think I had every one of them apart from weight loss." Prediabetes means your blood sugars are higher than usual but not high enough for you to be diagnosed with type 2 diabetes.
Diabetes can make it more likely for people to have heart disease, strokes and other serious problems like kidney failure, nerve damage and losing your sight. Coleen shared: "While the nurse emphasised it's not a diet, I need to change what I eat.
At home, I have a healthy plant-based diet as my daughter Ciara is an amazing vegan cook and makes all my meals." She continued that keeping fit is something she's prioritising too, with dog walks and exercise in the gym, with the latter something which will take getting used to, Coleen admitted.
