The A78 at Snowdon Terrace in West Kilbride has been closed following the collision.
It's understood that emergency services are on the scene with an air ambulance also dispatched to the area.
Traffic monitoring system Inrix reports that there is currently delays betweenB7048 Portencross Road and B781 Yerton Brae.
Locals have advised motorists to avoid the area.
Inrix reports: "A78 Snowdon Terrace in both directions closed, slow traffic due to accident between B7048 Portencross Road and B781 Yerton Brae."
Police Scotland have been contacted for comment.
