A fundraiser to support the family of a 21-year-old killed in a tragic three-car smash in Milngavie has raised more than half of its target in just five hours.
Ryan Wheeler died after the Skoda Superb he was travelling in was involved in a collision with an Audi A4 and a Ford Tourneo on Auchenhowie Road. Medics rushed to the incident at 9.05pm on Sunday February 26 but Ryan, who had been travelling in the rear of the Skoda, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Since news of his death was announced pals have taken to social media to share tributes. And earlier on Tuesday, a GoFundMe was set up by pal Abby Grant to help the Milngavie man's family with the unexpected cost of a funeral.
In five hours, it has already raised £1,800 of an expected £3,000 target. Generous pals have donated as much as £100 at a time to help give the 21-year-old a loving farewell.
Abby said on the fundraiser: "Setting up a go fund me page for a boy who lost his life far too soon. Ryan had a heart of gold and always had everyone laughing.
"Lets help his family give him the send off he deserves! Rest in peace Ryan Wheeler."
Kevin Potts wrote: "Love you brother," signed with a heart emoji. Scott Souter added: "Gone way too soon, rest in peace bro."
Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the fatal collision on Sunday night. A 16-year-old girl travelling in the back of the Skoda with Ryan was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow, where her condition was reported as "critical".
The 19-year-old male driver of the Skoda was also taken to hospital, while two other male passengers in the car aged 23 and 17 sustained minor injuries. The 65-year-old female driver and 82-year-old male passenger in the Audi were uninjured, as
