British tourists name place in Europe they feel most unwelcome - but Scots don't agree

British tourists have named one European holiday destination as the least welcoming, but Scots say they don't have the same issue.
Travellers said while France is just across the channel, they felt more uncomfortable visiting the country than anywhere else in Europe - with some even saying it was the most unfriendly in the world to Brits.
Many tourists said they had made an effort to be friendly with locals and communicate in French but they still received a hostile response, the Mirror reports.
But some added that being Scottish seemed to give you an advantage over being English, with locals being more receptive to northerns.
Reddit users concluded France was the least welcoming and most uncomfortable, with locals taking an "active dislike" to them, after one user asked which holiday destinations to avoid.
The post asked: "What's the least welcoming country for British tourists?" and "Is there any country you visited where you felt uncomfortable or unwelcome because you were British?".

Hundreds of people flocked to the comments section to answer, wit one saying: "I've been all over the world and France, France, France, and France.. did I mention France?"
According to English Heritage, France tops the list of nations that Britain has had the most conflicts with.
Another person commented: "France. It might have just been the town or area that we were in, but we found that a lot of the locals and cafes and restaurants took an active dislike to us."
