JD Linville Prime Video and Conspiração Filmes, one of Brazil’s biggest production houses, have dropped the trailer for Season 2 of their award-winning original Brazilian series “Dom,” which follows Pedro Dom, a notorious gangster and his father Victor’s efforts to save his son from himself.  The series, which debuted in 2021, is the creation of late director Breno Silveira (“Two Sons of Francisco”) who directed the second season prior to his death. Season 3, which has commenced filming, will be directed by Adrian Teijido (“Narcos,” “Sergio”) and Vellas (“Shout”), and will serve as a wild finale to a story of crime, violence and family.

Travis Barker has injured his finger again ahead of Blink-182‘s reunion tour and shared a grim photo of the damage.The pop-punk heroes are set to kick off their reunion tour with Tom DeLonge in Latin America in early March, with the tour running through until 2024.Earlier this month, Barker damaged his finger in tour rehearsals, putting the first dates of the tour in doubt. Callum McLennan There are stepping stones to carving out a career as a filmmaker. It frequently involves them creating an idea for a short and perhaps finding collaborators willing to hustle. The first short could reach a small festival. It may get commended. Their next short film reaches a larger festival, with more cache. Bit by bit a reputation is built to a height where, if lucky, they get to develop their first feature.  One such filmmaker who has worked to reach this point is Brazil’s, Rafaela Camelo, selected by Variety as one of 10 Brazilian next gen talents.  Camelo’s “Blood Of My Blood,” is now greenlit to begin shooting later this year. Produced by Brazil’s Moveo Filmes and Apoteótica, Chile’s Pinda Producciones and Vertical Production inn France, it secured funding by winning the Audiovisual Fund for minority co-production of feature films from the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Heritage of Chile, and new director funding from Brazil’s Audiovisual Sectorial Fund (FSA) run by state film-TV agency Ancine, plus backing from the Support Fund DF Culture (FAC).

Elsa Keslassy International Correspondent “Lie With Me,” a romance drama headlined by French stars Guillaume de Tonquebec and Victor Belmondo, has lured a raft of theatrical distributors at the Berlinale’s EFM. Represented in international markets by Be For Films and directed by Olivier Peyon, the movie is based on Philippe Besson’s book “Arrête avec tes mensonges.” The autobiographical novel was originally published in France by Editions Julliard in 2017 and won pair of awards including the Maison de la Presse prize in 2017. After selling several key territories earlier this year, Be For Films has now closed deals for the U.S. (Cinephobia Realising), Germany/Austria (24 Bilder), Brazil (Imovision), Poland (Tongariro), Greece (Cinobo) and Turkey (Bir Films).

Christopher Vourlias To set a 100-minute drama entirely inside the confines of a single apartment — and to have just a solitary character performing for the camera — might not seem like the most obvious template for an edge-of-your-seat thriller. But when that character is played by a versatile actor with the range of multi-Oscar-nominated Willem Dafoe, there’s no telling what will emerge. That’s the case with “Inside,” which premieres Feb. 20 in the Panorama section of the Berlin Film Festival. Focus Features is releasing the film theatrically in the U.S. on March 17. Dafoe stars as an art thief who enters a collector’s high-tech penthouse hunting for valuable works of art, only to be trapped inside when the security system locks the apartment down. When help fails to arrive, the thief — surrounded by so many of the art works he covets and admires — must use all of his cunning and invention to survive, even as supplies dwindle and his body is pushed toward ever-more-demanding extremes.

Liza Foreman Hot on the tail of a recent slew of pickups and sales, Paris-based sales-producer-distributor Alief has snapped up international rights to the West African folktale “Mami Wata.”   North America rights to the film are represented by Marissa Frobes at CAA Media Finance. Alief is presenting the film to buyers and festival programmers at this week’s European Film Market in Berlin. The first film from a Nigerian-based director to play (and win an award) at Sundance, this visually striking feature took home the World Cinema Dramatic Special Jury Award for Cinematography for Brazilian DP Lílis Soares.

Naman Ramachandran Nathan Stewart-Jarrett is ready for his close-up. After making a mark with TV’s “Misfits” and “Utopia” and in the film “Candyman,” the British actor is set to explode upon the world stage with “Femme,” world premiering at the Berlin Film Festival’s Panorama strand. Stewart-Jarrett plays Jules, whose alter-ego is Aphrodite, a celebrated drag queen in a gay club in London whose life is destroyed by a homophobic attack. After he spots one of the perpetrators (George MacKay) in a gay sauna, Jules plots revenge.  “Femme” is based on the BAFTA-nominated short of the same name by directors Sam H. Freeman and Ng Choon Ping. Stewart-Jarrett had played a former drag queen in the Tony- and Olivier Award-winning theater production of “Angels in America” and built on that during the “Femme” preparation.

Alves de Souza has such films as 2020 Berlin Generation winner “My Name Is Baghdad,” a plucky tale of adolescence on the fringes of society, and 2013’s San Sebastian Horizontes Latinos debut “Underage,” a riveting look at juvenile justice under her belt. She shreds ignorance with her belief “in the power of a cinema that questions established norms but also offers some alternative.”
