A teenage boy accused of murder admitted stabbing a 17-year-old but claimed he was trying to 'diffuse' a fight. The 16-year-old defendant, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is on trial after being charged following the death of Kyle Hackland.
The 16-year-old, Yousef Sesay, 18, Lewis Ludford, also 18, and a 17-year-old boy are all standing trial at Manchester Crown Court, and have pleaded not guilty to murder. Mr Hackland, 17, was stabbed four times on Southlea Road in Withington at about 11.30am on November 22 last year.

The defendant said he'd previously become involved in selling cannabis. He told the jury that when they arrived at the agreed location, Mr Sesay got into a car and was robbed of a 'large amount of money'. He said the money had been pooled together and some of it had been borrowed from someone else.
He said he believed there would be 'consequences' following the money being taken from them. The defendant said he believed that Mr Hackland and his friend were present during the incident, as well as a number of other men, and claimed all of them had weapons. The teenager said he believed that they had been 'set up' by Mr Hackland's friend.
He told the jury that the day after, they decided to sell cannabis in Withington and Burnage to try and recoup the money that was lost. While they were
