Good Morning Britain host Ben Shephard has broken his silence on becoming a potential replacement for Phillip Schofield following the groundbreaking news Holly Willoughby has also stepped down from her role on This Morning.
It was announced on Tuesday evening that Holly, 42, was standing down from the flagship ITV programme following allegations of a 'plot to murder and kill' the presenter just months after her co-star Phil stepped down from his role.
Phillip, 61, confessed earlier this year to having an "unwise but not illegal" affair with a younger male colleague which rocked the industry and fractured his friendship with off-screen pal Holly who faced equal backlash in the light of the claims.
Announcing she was stepping down, Holly said of the "difficult decision" that "I now feel I have to make this decision for me and my family. I will miss you all so much."
Prior to the news of Holly leaving, there were reports that bosses over at ITV were working to confirm a "full-time replacement" for Phillip alongside Holly, with GMB host Ben Shephard in the front running to take on the role.
He has since addressed the claims he could be taking to the iconic sofa during the Pride of Britain Awards ceremony in London at the weekend attending the event alongside co-star Susanna Reid.
He said: "What I can tell you is I'm doing some more – I'm gonna be doing some more but I'm just helping out really. So I've got some days coming up between now and Christmas.
"So I'm not exactly sure but I'm still very, very much part of the furniture..."
