Zoe Ball has revealed her mother’s cancer is ‘quite advanced’ after she confirmed her mum's ill health was behind her recent absence from her BBC Radio 2 show. Earlier this month, the broadcaster shared on social media that her mum Julia Peckham had been diagnosed with cancer after she disappeared from her breakfast show on the station.
Alongside pictures of the family together, Zoe said: "Heartbreakingly our beautiful Mama Julia has been diagnosed with Cancer. As many of you know from experience, these are extremely tough times. Mum is being incredibly brave."
She continued to say at the time: "My brother Jamie & I are completely in awe of the brilliant Doctors, Nurses & support teams looking after Mum. Thank you. Gratitude to our families & our extended family & friends at home & at work for their support at this time. Sending out love to people reading this who are battling cancer, or awaiting diagnosis & also to the folk looking after their dear ones who are poorly."

Now, Zoe returned to her radio show on Monday morning (March 18) after Gaby Roslin stepped in. The 53-year-old told her listeners: "It’s me! I’ve missed you all, I’ve been looking after my dear ma but back to bother you though."
It was then later in the show that she gave an emotional update on her mum’s condition and said they are focused on "making memories" after Julia's diagnosis.
"Sadly, heartbreakingly her cancer is quite advanced but we’re making loads of lovely memories and taking care of her," Zoe said. "She has some amazing people around her."
