Armed police swarmed a street in Cumbernauld after a man was allegedly seen holding a weapon this morning.
Emergency services raced to Glenhove Road in the North Lanarkshire town after the alarm was raised at around 10.55am on Friday.
Officers were called to reports of a "disturbance" before a 29-year-old man was arrested and charged. He is due to appear at Airdrie Sheriff Court on Monday.
One local said that people were "screaming" before police arrived at the scene. They told Glasgow Live: "There was a lot of screaming and bawling in the morning.
"It kind of quietened down a bit and then officers appeared. There were five or six cars on the street. The whole street was cordoned off. They were shouting armed police. Eventually they gained entry in to a property."

The resident said they have been left worried by the ordeal as children are known to walk up and down the road from the nearby school.
They added: "It makes you feel unsettled in your own home and kind of unsafe. Kids live in this street and there is a primary school at the bottom. If any of those kids were walking home how would they feel seeing police with big guns. It was a bit of a whirlwind this morning."
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 10.55am on Friday, March 1, 2024, police were called to a report of a disturbance in Glenhove Road, Cumbernauld. Officers attended and found a man in possession of a weapon.
"A 29-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with the incident. He is due to appear at Airdrie Sheriff Court on Monday, March 4, 2024."
