A popular spy thriller with a near-perfect Rotten Tomatoes score has been renewed for a fifth season on Apple TV.
Slow Horses stars Gary Oldman as Jackson Lamb, the head of a team of British spies who have all made career-ending mistakes and are subsequently outcast to Slough House - earning them the nickname Slow Horses. The series is based on Mick Herron’s spy novels of the same name.
Variety confirmed on Tuesday, January 2 that a fifth season had been ordered - despite the show's fourth season not yet airing. Season five will be adapted from the fifth book in Herron’s series, London Rules.

Showrunner Will Smith - the British comedian - confirmed the fourth season is set to air towards the end of 2024. The dark-humoured espionage series first premiered in November 2022.
Alongside Oscar-winning Oldman, it also stars Kristin Scott Thomas as Diana Taverner, Jack Lowden as River Cartwright and Christopher Chung as Roddy Ho, rounding off the band of MI5 misfits.
The show's third season dropped in November 2023, with the final episode airing on December 27. The first three seasons earned an impressive score of 97% on review site Rotten Tomatoes.
Ana Yorke of PopMatters wrote: "While Slow Horses’ story brings little new to the spy genre, the plotting is tight, the dialogues are exquisitely written, and the cast is uniformly superb."
