Former Manchester United striker Andy Cole does not believe the club should get carried away by their current position in the Premier League table.
United, who ended their six-year wait for a trophy by winning the Carabao Cup at Wembley on Sunday afternoon, are third in the standings, eight points behind league leaders Arsenal. They are also only six points behind neighbours Manchester City, who are currently second, with the Reds having a game in hand on them.
Considering United finished a disappointing sixth in the Premier League last term, it has been a season of significant improvement in their maiden campaign under manager Erik ten Hag. Expectation levels have soared and the Dutchman has installed a new winning mentality.

Though some United supporters have played down title chatter, the club is still in with a chance of topping the table come the end of May, though they are clearly outsiders. Nevertheless, a top-four finish, especially now that they have scooped a trophy, would represent a successful campaign.
However, former Reds striker Cole, who played for the club between 1995 and 2001, believes United are benefitting this season from other clubs not performing at the top of their game.
Cole, speaking to Best Sports Betting Canada, said: "Arsenal and Manchester City have been lacking this season and that's why they're in the position they find themselves in, a title race and five or eight points ahead of Manchester United.
"Erik ten Hag has come in and done a fantastic job, but I would not get carried away because you look at Liverpool and Tottenham who have been terrible this season, Manchester City have not been themselves, Arsenal
