The New ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ Villain: Why Chukwudi Iwuji Is ‘One of the Best Actors’ James Gunn’s Ever Worked With

Chukwudi Iwuji was a kid growing up in Nigeria and Ethiopia, he imagined he could fly. The second youngest of five, he would spend hours on his own, meticulously reenacting scenes he’d seen on TV, playing every part himself. Virtually all of what captured his imagination were American shows and films from the 1970s and ’80s: “Charlie’s Angels,” “The Man from U.N.C.L.E.,” “The Godfather” and “E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial,” via broadcast reruns and bootleg VHS tapes. After he first saw “Star Wars,” he would stare intensely at a plastic cup, willing it to move. And “Superman,” of course, convinced Iwuji he could leap tall buildings in a single bound.

Critics brand Ana de Armas film ‘Ghosted’ as “worst of the year”

Chris Evans‘ new film Ghosted as “the worst of the year”.Directed by Dexter Fletcher (Rocketman, Bohemian Rhapsody), the romantic action-adventure sees Evans play Cole Turner, a farmer who falls for de Armas’ enigmatic Sadie Rhodes, only to discover that she’s a secret agent.“Before they can decide on a second date, Cole and Sadie are swept away on an international adventure to save the world,” reads a synopsis for the film.Released on Apple TV+ on April 21, Ghosted has been universally panned by critics and currently holds a “Rotten” score of 33% on review aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes. Many have noted a lack of chemistry between the two leads, while others have taken aim at the film’s plot, script and CGI.In a one-star review, The Guardian wrote: “It’s utterly impossible to see the appeal of Ghosted, the movie, a staggeringly, maddeningly atrocious heap of increasingly boneheaded decisions that will act as depressing documentation of just how rotten things got in the current oversaturated streaming landscape.”Empire was similarly critical, writing: “If you’re going to take a hugely familiar premise and rely on easy star chemistry to sell it, you really need the right stars in the right roles and a killer script for all the killing.

‘Ghosted’ Star Chris Evans Loved Playing the ‘Damsel in Distress’ Opposite ‘Badass’ Ana de Armas

Michaela Zee editor Chris Evans saved the world (and even the universe) multiple times as Captain America. But in his latest Apple TV+ action film “Ghosted,” it’s Ana de Armas who’s doing the rescuing. “It was great. I mean, we’ve all seen Ana be badass; she was so good in [‘No Time to Die’],” Evans told Variety at the New York premiere of “Ghosted” on Tuesday night. “It was nice to be the damsel in distress. It was nice to need saving — primarily because I didn’t have to sweat during the action sequences.” Directed by Dexter Fletcher (“Rocketman,” “Eddie the Eagle”), “Ghosted” follows hopelessly romantic Cole (Evans), who falls head over heels for the enigmatic Sadie (de Armas). When Sadie seemingly ghosts him, Cole follows her to London as a romantic gesture, only to discover that the girl of his dreams is a CIA agent on assignment.
