Amanda Abbington's fiancé Jonathan Goodwin shared a cryptic message hours before she 'quit' Strictly Come Dancing. News emerged on Monday, 23 October, that the 49 year old Sherlock actress has left the show after becoming 'fed up', according to The Daily Star. A spokesperson for Strictly Come Dancing confirmed she had left with a statement that said: "Amanda Abbington is unable to continue in Strictly Come Dancing and has decided to withdraw from the competition.
"The show wishes her all the best for the future." Amanda who was partnered with Giovanni Pernice, 33, pulled out of the last live show, due to a mystery 'medical reason'. And her fiancé Jonathan Goodwin, a retired escapologist and daredevil who appeared on Britain's Got Talent in 2021, took to Instagram which appeared to allude to mental health. He shared a mirror selfie to his Instagram stories where he could be seen wearing a black jumper and a pair of blue jeans.
Over the top of the snap, he wrote: "We can be so hard on ourselves...be our own worst critics... "But before you judge yourself... make sure your mirror is clean." Reports of Amanda quitting Strictly come after the actress didn't perform live on Saturday, alongside the other celebrities on the show, due to a mystery 'medical reason'.
Her absence was addressed at the beginning of Saturday night's show (October 21) as presenter Claudia Winkleman said: “Now as you may have noticed, Amanda and Giovanni are missing from the lineup. Due to medical reasons Amanda is unable to perform this week." Claudia continued: "Strictly Come Dancing protocols mean that all being well, Amanda and Giovanni will return the following week.
