Heavy snow has been forecast for parts of England this week, as the severe cold snap and plummeting sub-zero temperatures continue to move in.
A plunge of cold Arctic air is set to see a sharp change in the conditions we have mostly seen so far this winter, with snow expected to fall over parts of England throughout the week, including in Greater Manchester.
Warnings have already been issued over possible disruption, with the Met Office introducing yellow weather warnings for snow and ice, which cover the Greater Manchester region, as well as the north west, north east and Scotland, for Tuesday and Wednesday. Warnings are already in place for Northern Ireland and northern parts of Scotland today (Sunday) and tomorrow (Monday).

It comes as the Met Office and UK Health Security Agency issued a Cold-Health alert, urging people to check on elderly and vulnerable family, friends and neighbours amid the below freezing temperatures.
Some forecasters have said the country could see its worst snowstorm in 14 years. The Met Office has been slightly more reserved in its predictions, saying there is some uncertainty due to different weather systems battling for influence on conditions.
Nevertheless, snowy showers have been predicted across parts of England from Monday (January 15). The Met Office says there will be 'scattered snow showers around windward coasts', with 'brisk winds in the north'.
The north east coast, near to Scarborough, may see some light snow falling from around 10am on Monday morning, with scattered and brief showers throughout the day and into the evening.
