In one of the most tumultuous Greater Manchester boroughs when it comes to local elections, every single seat is on the table for Stockport's ‘all-out’ election.
Last year’s election saw the Liberal Democrats seize control of Stockport Council from Labour and the victors will be looking to maintain their majority this time around. It would be expected to see a tight contest between the two yet again with the current councillor makeup showing 28 Lib Dems, 22 Labour, four Conservatives, three Independent Ratepayers, three Independents, two Greens and one for the Edgeley Community Association.
Just over 200 council candidates are vying for 63 seats this year. The Conservatives, Labour and the Liberal Democrats are all fielding three candidates in each of the 21 wards.

The polls will open on Thursday, May 4 with the results coming the following day. All 21 wards will have three available seats.
Applications to register to vote must reach the Electoral Registration Officer by midnight on Monday 17 April 2023. Applications can be made online: https://www.gov.uk/register-to-vote
