It's been decades since Alesha Dixon burst onto the UK music scene as MC in charge of Mis-Teeq. Since then, the entertainer has gone from strength to strength, becoming a household name thanks to programmes like Strictly Come Dancing and Britain's Got Talent, which returns this Saturday (April 20) on ITV and ITVX.
In a career that has straddled the 1990s until now, the 45-year-old singer, dancer and performer always seems to be at the cutting edge of what's happening.
Alesha's worked alongside Simon Cowell on BGT for some time, forming a professional bond throughout the success of the ITV1 hit. As the programme returns for its 17th series, here is more about Alesha Dixon.

Born in Welwyn Garden City in Hertfordshire to a Scottish mum and Jamaican dad, Alesha's parents separated when she was four years old. Her mum's partner was allegedly abusive and she created a documentary for the BBC, Don't Hit My Mum, regarding the issue of domestic abuse from a child's perspective in 2010.
Alesha was heading to Loughborough University with her diploma in sports studies. However, in 1999 she met Sabrina Washington as they both joined a dance school in Fulham.
They then spotted Su-Elise Nash and signed to Telstar Records - with ZZena McNally completing the four-piece which became the UK garage/R&B girl group, Mis-Teeq.
The group's debut album Lickin' on Both Sides shot to number three in the UK album charts in 2001 and eventually went double platinum. Five singles from the record - including Why, All I Want and One Night Stand - all going top
