Tributes have been paid to an Oldham man who suddenly passed away following a suspected heart attack. Sam Malik, from Coppice, was pronounced dead in the early hours of the morning on Sunday (February 18).
Tributes have poured in from many in the Manchester music and arts scene with local theatre ContactMCR dedicating a post to Malik, who they described as a 'bright light' at the venue. A post by ContactMCR on Instagram says: "We’re shocked and saddened to hear the news of the passing of Sam Malik.
"Sam had been a long standing member of the Contact Team and touched the lives of so many people. Our thoughts are with Sam’s family, friends and colleagues at this time. Sam was a very bright light at Contact and beyond and will be truly missed."

Dozens have flocked to the post to leave tributes, expressing their shock and admiration for Malik. One commenter said: "Absolutely devastating."
Another added: "So many adored him and for good reason too. A huge loss for Manchester’s young people. RIP brother."
Another person wrote a lengthy and heartfelt comment and said: "For myself and countless others, we would not be pursuing music with the same pragmatic mindset without his strong influence from the beginning. He was my first mentor, in music and in life.
"Heartbroken to hear this; may God grant him the highest ranks of heaven for the hereafter. Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi rajiun."
