Jimmy Buffett Tribute at Hollywood Bowl Brings Together Paul McCartney, Eagles, Snoop Dogg, Harrison Ford, Brandi Carlile, Jane Fonda and Scores of Stars

Chris Willman Senior Music Writer and Chief Music Critic Paul McCartney was the obvious headliner of the bill Thursday at the Hollywood Bowl. But it was Buffett-mania that was in full sway, as a cast of dozens of singers and celebrity presenters — from Jane Fonda to Snoop Dogg — saluted or parroted a fallen musical hero for the three-and-a-half-hour “Keep The Party Going: A Tribute to Jimmy Buffett.” Most of the night’s entertainers covered Buffett classics or obscurities, although McCartney, the Eagles and Snoop Dogg broke with that to regale the full Bowl house with their own material, while Zac Brown and (sending in a video contribution) Dave Matthews debuted brand new songs saluting Buffett.

Matt Donnelly Senior Film Writer Ryan Reynolds’ potty-mouthed superhero Deadpool made a Las Vegas convention hall blush on Thursday, unveiling nine minutes of vulgar and hilarious footage from the upcoming sequel “Deadpool and Wolverine” at CinemaCon. Stacked with meta jokes about Disney’s Marvel Studios finally making an R-rated film – and just how unprepared the company’s executives are for this kind of release – the annual gathering of global movie theater owners ate up all the raunch. Wunderhorse have shared their bluesy new single ‘Midas’ – check it out below. The track opens with a crisp guitar riff and sees frontman Jacob Slater sing/speak: “The voice inside the suit came crawling through the telephone / Somewhere between the cheeseboard and a nursery rhyme / I heard the rattlesnake shaking in his invitation / And the whites of his knuckles on the other end of the line”, his voice reminiscent of Bob Dylan.Speaking about the creation of the song in a press release, Slater said: “The song was written in a bathtub in Paris, and forgotten about until it resurfaced in Minnesota. Midas is the guy who makes you feel like a pencil stub, all used up and nothing to show for it, but it’s always just business as far as he’s concerned.”Directed, shot and edited by Polocho, the accompanying music video sees the band performing the song in a dark room while a man in a business suit is crafting a baby doll in a scary office looking room. The track marks the band’s first release following their 2022 debut album ‘Cub‘.

‘A Quiet Place: Day One’ Rocks CinemaCon With Lupita Nyong’o, Deafening Action Footage and Apocalyptic New York City

Matt Donnelly Senior Film Writer For a film in the “Quiet Place” universe, the decibel level was near deafening at the film’s CinemaCon presentation on Thursday in Las Vegas. John Krasinski’s horror franchise is now in its third outing, the latest being a prequel of sorts starring Lupita Nyong’o and titled “A Quiet Place: Day One.” The film takes viewers back to the inciting incident, when faceless alien beasts invaded the planet and revealed an extreme sensitivity to sound — using it to track and find terrified humans and, well, kill them. Nyong’o and costar Joseph Quinn (breakout star of the last season of “Stranger Things”) teed up an extended version of a “Day One” trailer released earlier this year.
