A row has broken out between Buckingham Palace and Lambeth Palace over the Archbishop of Canterbury's "misunderstood" plans for a public pledge of allegiance to King Charles during his Coronation. The Coronation will break from tradition with the Homage of the People being conducted by members of the public, rather than hereditary dukes and earls. However, the Archbishop's invitation to join in with this pledge of allegiance was understood by some to be a command, rather an invitation.
