Austin Butler Improvised That Creepy ‘Dune 2’ Kiss and Says Stellan Skarsgård ‘Is Down for Anything. He’s the Best’

Zack Sharf Digital News Director Austin Butler confirmed in an interview with Access Hollywood that his kiss with co-star Stellan Skarsgård in “Dune: Part Two” was improvised on his behalf. The kiss between Butler’s Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen and Skarsgård’s Baron Vladimir Harkonnen is unexpected and creepy as the characters are nephew and uncle, but it reaffirms Feyd-Rautha’s devotion to his uncle and deep desire to be him. That’s also why Butler mimicked Skarsgård’s speaking voice while crafting his own accent for Feyd-Rautha.

The Misery of Romance

Gay men as old as me can truthfully say that in the last 50 years, our freedom to love has expanded far beyond what we imagined. We sat on the beds of our lovers as they died from AIDS while congressmen advocated corralling all of us into concentration camps. Indeed, it was still illegal to have sex with other men in most places. True, Bill Clinton allowed us to serve in the military but only as long as we stayed in the closet. Many people regarded the long-unthinkable notion of gay marriage as our priority.

Bono Leads U2’s Audience in Chanting Alexei Navalny’s Name During Impassioned Anti-Putin, Pro-Ukraine Speech

Chris Willman Senior Music Writer and Chief Music Critic U2 has been performing Crowded House’s “Don’t Dream It’s Over” in concert at the band’s Sphere residency recently, and before Saturday night’s show, the introduction to that song extended far longer than usual, as Bono paid tribute to the dream of Alexei Navalny, the Russian dissident who died in prison days earlier. The singer spoke up for the freedom of the Ukrainian people and against Russian leader Vladimir Putin — who many believe is directly responsible for the political prisoner’s still-unexplained death — before leading the crowd in a chant of Navalny’s name. “Next week it’ll be two years since Putin invaded and tried to destroy the hard-won freedoms” of the Ukrainian people, Bono said.
