The deal covers both film and television projects that Lee (also known as Sonny Lee) may develop. As is customary with such announcements, financial terms were not disclosed.

Although it’s been two-and-a-half years since the season one finale of Robert Kirkman‘s “Invincible” back in April 2021, the subversive animated superhero series is back for season two. Given the chaotic state of both Marvel and DC Comics franchises, it’s increasingly looking like Prime Video is becoming a welcome place for counterprogramming when it comes to the mainstream superhero genre. The streaming service has already tailor-made mature superhero shows such as “The Boys,” “Gen V,” and “Invincible,” with a satirical edge for an audience that might want a bit more than just flashy CGI destruction and convoluted Multiverse cameos.

The animated superhero series will pick up right where the last season ended, introducing new characters and stories from the comic it is based on. The first four episodes of Season 2 will debut on Prime Video on Nov.

Prime Video today released the official Season 2 trailer for Robert Kirkman‘s adult animated superhero series Invincible from Skybound Entertainment. It was unveiled during Saturday’s Prime Video New York Comic Con panel, along with an exclusive episode clip, and a series conversation with executive producer, co-creator and co-showrunner Kirkman and co-showrunner and executive producer Simon Racioppa.

With a budget less than 20 times that of The Boys and “barely” any marketing, Amazon Prime Video‘s Invincible has succeeded through word of mouth and attracting new viewers to the genre, according to its EP Marge Dean.

The industry’s leading entertainment publication has hired Ethan Bellows, a veteran video producer with a strong background in digital storytelling, as the head of production. Bellows, who spent a decade at Entertainment Weekly as a senior producer, will be overseeing video coverage for Variety‘s live events as well as producing the magazine’s biggest video series such as Directors on Directors, which last year featured everyone from James Cameron to Ryan Coogler to Taylor Swift.

Most-watched basic cable show in history, and I can guarantee that will never be topped. But yet, an Emmy dud. The series (which will live on via a frenzy of spin-offs) ended its run last November after 11 seasons… and it’s still ignored by TV Academy voters, failing to pick up a single nomination on Wednesday. And yet… this may have been the most successful year at the Emmys ever for “The Walking Dead.” That’s because two of the franchise’s most beloved actors, Steven Yeun and Jon Bernthal, picked up their first-ever Emmy nominations. Granted, it’s not for “The Walking Dead” — Yeun is nominated in lead limited/anthology actor for “Beef” and Bernthal is a comedy guest actor nominee for “The Bear” (which is about… Chicago’s “Beef” restaurant) — but at least it’s a belated victory for two actors that made a name for themselves by fighting zombies.
