UPDATED, 7:15 AM: Apple TV+ has released the first trailer for Jake Gyllenhaal‘s legal thriller series Presumed Innocent. Until one day, you find yourself needing someone.” It’s the beginning of a steamy affair that ends up with Gyllenhaal’s Rusty looking guilty for murder. But is he?
Apple TV+ has moved up the premiere date for Presumed Innocent, its upcoming limited series, starring and executive produced by Jake Gyllenhaal. The series, inspired by Scott Turow’s courtroom thriller, from David E. Kelley, J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot and Warner Bros. TV, will premiere Wednesday, June 12, , just a few days following its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival on June 9. It originally was scheduled to debut on June 14.

Schitt's Creek star Dan Levy is challenging perceptions with his upcoming Netflix film Good Grief. The actor and screenwriter, 40, is best known for playing spoiled eldest son David Rose in the Canadian sitcom, which ran from 2020 to 2015.
Grief can be tricky in films, and grief from a writer/director/actor best known for comedies and TV sitcoms can be an even riskier proposition. But despite some early superficial, wobbling, and earnestly mawkish moments, Emmy award-winning showrunner, writer, actor, director, and producer Dan Levy, best known for co-creating and starring in the sitcom “Schitt’s Creek,” generally (mostly?) pulls it off in his sufficient feature-length debut “Good Grief” in the end.

Nancy Buirski, a PGA Award winner who produced the 2016 film Loving that was inspired by her documentary, directed several films including last year’s Desperate Souls, Dark City and the Legend of Midnight Cowboy and founded the Full Frame Documentary Film Festival, died August 29. Her company Augusta Films announced the news but did not provide details.
Michaela Zee Nancy Buirski, the award-winning documentary filmmaker known for “The Loving Story” and “Desperate Souls, Dark City and the Legend of Midnight Cowboy,” has died. Augusta Films shared the news of her death on Wednesday in a statement, writing, “Nancy’s extensive and rich body of work delved into a wide range of social, cultural and historical issues with keen insight, humanity and above all, artistry.” Buirski directed 2011’s “The Loving Story,” a documentary about the Supreme Court case of Loving v.

Selome Hailu Louis Hofmann has signed with CAA. The actor will soon be seen in “All the Light We Cannot See,” the upcoming Netflix limited series based on the novel of the same name by Anthony Doerr. The series follows Marie-Laure LeBlanc (Aria Mia Loberti), a blind French teenager who crosses paths with a young German soldier named Werner Pfennig (Hofmaan), who is described as quiet and soulful with “a strong moral compass in a complicated world.” Together, he and Marie-Laure must learn to survive the devastation of the war in occupied France. Hofmann’s casting was announced in February 2022. The project is set to debut on Nov. 2. Hofmann will also appear in Apple TV+’s upcoming World War II limited series “Masters of the Air,” which is based on on the book of the same name by Donald L. Miller and produced by Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks. And during Cannes, it was announced that Hofmann has been cast opposite “The Last of Us” star Bella Ramsey in “Monstrous Beauty.” In the period film, written and directed by Romola Garai, Hofmann plays Vale, an average actor and extremely skilled lover by trade, whose beauty that attracts Barbara’s (Ramsey) attention before he quickly becomes an object of infatuation and her muse. Dominic West, Ruth Negga and Fiona Shaw also star.
