Jamie Spears’ days of putting Britney Spears under a microscope are long gone!
Britney Spears' favor on Wednesday, saying that the singer will not have to sit for a deposition in the ongoing legal battle with her father.Britney's lawyer, Mathew Rosengart, argued that she feels traumatized by her experience under Jamie Spears' long-running conservatorship and that exposing her to invasive questioning via a deposition would further re-traumatize her. He asked the court, «What would a decent father do?» Jamie's lawyer, Alex Weingarten, called the plea «theatrics» and «attacks,» saying that Jamie cared for his daughter «beautifully.» He said Jamie deserved a chance to question Britney under oath about her public allegations against him. Judge Brenda Penny ultimately decided that any information Jamie needs to defend himself against allegations of conservatorship abuse could be obtained from other sources, including documents and other witnesses.
A US court yesterday declined to force Britney Spears to sit for a deposition as part of her ongoing legal dispute with her father over the management of the conservatorship that ran her life for thirteen years.Although that often controversial conservatorship was brought to an end last year, there remains plenty of legal wrangling in relation to it, including over allegations that Spears’ father Jamie, in his role overseeing the conservatorship, mismanaged his daughter’s finances and spied on her by monitoring her phone calls and putting a listening device in her bedroom. As part of the legal proceedings, Jamie has been ordered to take part in a deposition, in which he will have to answer questions posed by his daughter’s legal team under oath. In return, Jamie’s lawyers wanted Britney to do the same, answering their questions. However, her lawyer Mathew Rosengart argued that such a deposition would “re-traumatise” his client just as she is she is getting her life back together following last year’s termination of the conservatorship.According to Variety, he told the court: “Whether [Jamie] accepts it or not, his daughter feels traumatised by what she went through at his hands for more than a decade”.
Britney Spears was recently handed another win in her conservatorship case as a judge ruled Wednesday that Spears will not have to sit for a deposition Spears' attorney, Mathew Rosengart, argued in court that she "feels traumatized by what she went through" and answering questions from her father Jamie Spears' attorney, Alex Weingarten, would "retraumatize" her, per Page Six. Weingarten reportedly plans to appeal the decision. Jamie Spears will sit for a deposition by Aug.
Britney Spears will not have to answer questions from her father’s lawyer in a deposition, a probate judge ruled on Wednesday.Spears’ father, Jamie Spears, sought the court’s permission to take Spears’ deposition as the two sides continue to war over attorneys’ fees and other costs connected to her 13-year conservatorship. But Judge Brenda Penny ruled that a deposition would not be likely to produce information relevant to the remaining issues in the case.Britney Spears’ lawyer, Mathew Rosengart, said that a deposition would serve only to “retraumatize” his client. He also said that Spears would not be a witness in any future trial or evidentiary proceeding in the case.Spears was put under a court-ordered conservatorship in 2008 by her father, who acted as her sole conservator for most of the 13 years.

Grammy-winning producer Andrew Watt, who has worked with everyone from Miley Cyrus and Justin Bieber to Pearl Jam and Ozzy Osbourne, is reported to be overseeing the session.
Jamie Spears won’t be able to avoid a deposition.
Britney Spears’ attorney Mathew Rosengart has filed new legal papers accusing the company that formerly worked as his client’s business manager – Tri Star Sports & Entertainment Group – of being directly involved in setting up and then benefitting from the conservatorship that oversaw the star’s career and personal life from 2008 until last year.Tri Star was hired by Spears’ father Jamie in 2008 and continued to manage the singer’s business affairs until October 2020, when the company resigned from its position.Rosengart now alleges that Tri Star – and in particular its founder Lou Taylor and Services Director Robin Greenhill – were directly involved in setting up the conservatorship with Jamie Spears. He also claims that it benefitted from the arrangement to the tune of $18 million and used its association with Britney to build its wider business.“Tri Star, Lou Taylor and Robin Greenhill have all denied that Tri Star was involved in the creation of the conservatorship”, says the filing, but – it then insists – various claims that “at the time the conservatorship … was established by this court in early 2008, Tri Star had no role in Ms Spears’ affairs … are false”.The lawyer also includes emails allegedly showing that Taylor had originally pushed to become co-conservator alongside Jamie Spears, and that – while the conservatorship was still being considered in court in early 2008 – she had expressed concern that the judge hearing the case “will not give Jamie the power to administer psychotropic drugs”.In response, Tri Star’s attorney Scott Edelman said on Saturday: “This is materially misleading.
Jamie Spears is fighting back against some pretty sketchy allegations made against him!
Elizabeth Wagmeister Senior CorrespondentBritney Spears’ conservatorship is terminated, but the legal battle continues for the pop star.In the latest move in the saga against her father Jamie Spears — who was her former conservator — the pop star’s attorney is blasting the elder Spears for seeking “revenge” by trying to depose his famous daughter, calling it a “low blow” and a strategy to “intimidate” the singer.“He now, with no legitimate, good-faith basis, seeks to take a sham deposition of his daughter, all in an effort to upset and intimidate her,” the star’s attorney, Mathew Rosengart, wrote in a new legal filing to the Los Angeles Superior Court. The next hearing in Spears’ case is set to be held on July 13, where this matter is expected to be addressed in court. But if the conservatorship is over, why is this messy battle still ongoing? The singer is still fighting against her father, who has requested she pay his hefty legal bills, despite being suspended by the court, shortly before the conservatorship was terminated in November 2021.
Britney Spears' father is going on the offensive. Jamie Spears is accusing his famous daughter of actively trying to trash his name, and he's asking a judge to make her sit for a deposition. Jamie argues in newly filed court documents that Britney has slandered him on Instagram (prior to her deleting it), and he's certain she'll do so again in her soon-to-be-published memoir, according to TMZ. In his paperwork, Jamie wants Britney to address her claims that he forced her to give eight tubes of blood for medical treatment, was forced to participate in therapy and was not allowed to own pain-reliever meds — all of which she argued occurred while he was in control of her conservatorship.Since the pop star's conservatorship was terminated last November, both she and her lawyer, Mathew Rosengart, have alleged that Jamie abused his role as conservator.
