Years in the making, the album expands his sound without drastically changing it — he’s still using his MPC and his vocals are just as distorted as they were ten years ago — but now the stakes are exponentially higher.

James Blake has released a new single, ‘Loading’, ahead of his upcoming album.‘Loading’ serves as the second preview of ‘Playing Robots Into Heaven’, which is due for release on September 8 via Polydor/ Republic. The album will see Blake return to his electronic roots seen within his earlier works, such as 2013’s ‘Overgrown’ and 2010’s ‘Klavierwerke’.‘Loading’ features rhythmic drum patters, cascading synths and layered vocals that give the tender and delicate track an emotional touch.

The first reunion gig by the classic lineup of Blink-182 will not be waiting till the officially set beginning of the band’s tour in May, as previously expected. Instead, the reconstituted group’s first gig together since 2014 will be happening this Friday at the Coachella Festival. The late-breaking development was revealed not with any great flourishes or hoopla, but with the group’s name simply showing up on the festival schedule when it was released late Wednesday night, tucked in modestly among set times for hundreds of long-since-announced artists.

Billie Eilish and Labrinth are reportedly set to officially release their song from the Euphoria soundtrack, ‘Never Felt So Alone’.The track appears on the season two soundtrack of Zendaya’s hit HBO show, and Labrinth joined Eilish at her Los Angeles gig last December to perform the song.Though no official recorded version has yet seen the light of day, both Labrinth and Eilish have teased that it could be arriving next week.When the season two soundtrack arrived on Spotify, ‘Never Felt So Alone’ was absent, and has only existed on the show itself. The rest of generative AI’s capabilities are seen as a threat, or as RIAA President Mitch Glazer put it in a recent op-ed, as “empty knock offs and chatbot impersonations,” from which true, human-made music must be protected.  Meanwhile, The U.S. Copyright Office has put forward new requirements when registering copyright for AI-generated content: they will consider the extent to which the human had creative control over the work’s expression and “actually formed” the traditional elements of authorship. Both perspectives draw a hard line between human creativity and AI activity, rather than looking at ways the two can collaborate and co-create.
