Dune: Part Two has officially been pushed back to next year.Warner Bros. announced the delay today (August 25), confirming that it will no longer premiere this November, and will instead begin screening in cinemas on March 15 next year.The official Dune X/Twitter page has also changed its profile and header pictures, reflecting its new release date.

In what was to be expected, Legendary Entertainment and Warner Bros’ highly anticipated sequel, Dune: Part Two, from Denis Villeneuve is moving off its Nov. 3 theatrical release to March 15, 2024 due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike. The sequel based on the Frank Herbert penned novel will also play Imax on its new date. Don’t be surprised if Dune: Part Two fires off either the Berlin Film Festival or SXSW in the late winter/early spring.

“Dune Part II,” with the first trailer dropping on Wednesday morning. The poster simply offers a vast desert vista with its two young leads, Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya standing with weapons raised against the blazing sun. The film will be the second half of a two-part theatrical adaptation of Frank Herbert’s first 500-page tome, and will again feature Chalamet and Zendaya alongside the likes of Javier Bardem, Rebecca Ferguson and Josh Brolin.

Will Villeneuve do justice to the entire story of Herbert’s book? After all, “Dune” is a lot of different stories all at once: it’s an intergalactic war movie; a coming-of-age tale for Paul Atreides; a love story between Paul and Chani; a warning about the dangers of exploiting the natural world’s ecology for material gain; and a treatise on how statecraft and polity go hand in hand, with humanity manipulating itself for its best interests over generations.

Legendary’s Dune might have been crimped by a theatrical day-and-date release on HBO Max due to Covid, but the sequel, Dune: Part Two is apt to be on fire this fall in an exclusive big-screen release.

Netflix has tapped Academy Award nominee Jon Spaihts (Dune: Part One & Two) to pen its live-action Gears of War film, based on the hit video game series, Deadline can confirm.

Ellise Shafer HBO Max’s “Dune” prequel spinoff “The Sisterhood” is going through some changes. Both director Johan Renck and star Shirley Henderson have exited the HBO Max series, Variety has confirmed. The news comes as the production takes a “pre-scheduled hiatus,” according to the streamer. “There are some creative changes being made to the production in an effort to create the best series possible and stay true to the source material,” a HBO Max representative said in a statement. “Johan Renck has completed his work on the series and a new director will be brought on; through mutual agreement Johan is moving on to pursue other projects. Additionally, Shirley Henderson will be exiting the series and will no longer be playing Tula Harkonnen.”

Tim Blake Nelson is the newest addition to the cast of Dune: Part 2, Deadline can confirm. 

Mark Strong (1917, Kingsman films), Jade Anouka (His Dark Materials, Small Axe) and Chris Mason (Broadchurch, Dirty John) have been cast opposite Emily Watson, Shirley Henderson and Travis Fimmel in HBO Max’s series Dune: The Sisterhood (wt), from Legendary Television.

Empress Natalya is described as a formidable royal who united thousands of worlds in her marriage to Emperor Corrino. Varma is best known for playing Ellaria Sand in four seasons of “Game of Thrones” and recently starred as Tala Durith in “Obi-Wan Kenobi.” Other prominent credits include “Luther” on BBC and “Paranoid” on ITV and Netflix. Up next, Varma will appear in “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One” and “Extrapolations” on Apple TV+. She is reppedmby Gersh, Principal Entertainment LA and James Adams.
