is almost back on our screens, and ET is exclusively debuting the new teaser trailer for season 2 of ABC's hit new comedy series. After a highly acclaimed debut season, our favorite group of dedicated and passionate teachers is heading back to school for a new year and things get as chaotically adorable as we've come to expect.In the new teaser, the teachers prepare for the upcoming school year with what creator Quinta Brunson's Janine calls the «calm before the storm,» aka development week. Sheryl Lee Ralph's Barbara, Lisa Ann Walter's Melissa, Chris Perfetti's Jacob, Janelle James' Ava and Tyler James Williams' newly full-time Gregory are all in attendance as they ready the school — and themselves — for the kids' return.Even Abbott’s eccentric custodian, Mr. Johnson (William Stanford Davis), who was promoted to series regular before production on season 2 began, gets into the new swing of things in the footage.Of course, pandemonium returns when the kids make their appearance. Watch the teaser above.Last month, the cast was joined at San Diego Comic-Con by executive producers Justin Halpern and Patrick Schumacker in a live virtual panel, where they first revealed the premiere date and that the upcoming season scored a rare full-season, 22-episode order. And while the cast remained tight-lipped on what other surprises are in store for season 2, especially when it comes to possible famous cameos, Brunson did offer one tease, «You're going to see a cameo in the first episode.» «I'm not gonna tell you who it is but it's a really good one,» she added, with Schumacker noting that they were only allowed the mysterious guest for «literally one day.»  «It's someone we didn't think we'd be able to get,» Brunson teased.

“Abbott Elementary” will be returning for a second season, having just swept the recent Television Critics Association’s annual TCA Awards, including Program of the Year.

It's been a non-stop adventure since  debuted on ABC, and the party is just beginning! Production for season 2 began on Monday, and Quinta Brunson shared that fans will be getting even more when season 2 premieres on Sept. 21. The star and creator was joined at San Diego Comic-Con by co-stars Tyler James Williams, Janelle James, Chris Perfetti, Lisa Ann Walter, William Stanford Davis and Sheryl Lee Ralph, as well as executive producers Justin Halpern and Patrick Schumacker in a live virtual panel. On the first day of the 2022 convention, Brunson revealed the upcoming season also features more episodes than the first, although she admitted that they probably weren't supposed to announce that bit of news yet.ABC announced that the smash series had officially been renewed for a second season in March, ahead of the show's midseason premiere.

Veteran character actor William Stanford Davis, who recurred heavily on the first season of Abbott Elementary, has been promoted to a series regular on the upcoming second season of the breakout ABC workplace comedy from Warner Bros. TV. He will continue as Abbott’s eccentric custodian Mr. Johnson.

Abbot Elementary creator and star Quinta Brunson revealed that she's received multiple requests from fans to produce “a school shooting episode” of her breakout ABC comedy. In a Twitter thread, Brunson made her position on the suggestion very clear: “The answer is ‘no.’" “Wild how many people have asked for a school shooting episode of the show I write,” she tweeted Wednesday.

Tyler James Williams (The United States vs. Billie Holiday), Janelle James (The Comedy Lineup), Chris Perfetti (The Night Of), Lisa Ann Walter (The Parent Trap) and Sheryl Lee Ralph (Instant Mom) round out the series regular cast, joining creator, star and exec producer Brunson in the pilot from Justin Halpern, Patrick Schumacker, Warner Bros. TV and 20th Television.
