Zara McDermott has given an insight into how boyfriend Sam Thompson would have felt during an "overwhelming" row over cooking where his I'm A Celebrity co-stars told him to calm down - despite knowing about his ADHD diagnosis.
The Made In Chelsea star is currently the favourite to be crowned King of the Jungle in the ITV series, having won over viewers by opening up on learning he had ADHD earlier this year. Sam's neurodiversity can mean he has trouble with focus and listening, so some viewers were uncomfortable to see the other campmates pile on as a group in telling him to calm down while he tried to take his turn cooking dinner one night.
Former Love Island and Strictly Come Dancing star Zara shared how Sam, 31, would have felt in the moment with the "overwhelming" number of voices all speaking at him at once. Appearing on Thursday's This Morning, she watched a clip of the moment with hosts Rylan and Emma Willis as Fred Sirieix was shown telling him: "Sam you need to concentrate now," with others including Nick Pickard repeating "calm down".
Fred also said: "I wish I'd cooked the meat myself," as Sam shot back "Fred, what are you talking about mate? I'm very much concentrating." Rylan said: "Zara, I don't want to speak for him because you know Sam better than any of us. But I watched that and I was like guys, you know he's got ADHD.
Is that not like asking a coiled spring not to pop." Zara, 26, told him: "I think the lovely thing about Sam is that he's able to not take things too personally. He's able to understand those around him and he wouldn't have been offended by that.
