Young Sheldon came to an end this week.
The CBS sitcom, a prequel to The Big Bang Theory, aired for seven seasons with the series finale airing Thursday (May 16).
In the episode, we saw the Coopers attend the funeral for Lance Barber’s , plus, Jim Parsons and Mayim Bialik reprised their roles as adult Sheldon Cooper and his wife Amy Farrah Fowler, giving an update on their post-Big Bang Theory life.
Now that the episode hit the airwaves, the amount of viewers that tuned in has been revealed, and it’s a lot!

The finale episode, titled “Funeral,” drew in 8.95 million viewers, marking it’s biggest singular episode viewership in four years, according to Variety.
Previously, the most watched episode was the season three finale, which drew in 10.2 million viewers in April 2020.

Prime Video has handed a series order to Young Sherlock, inspired by Andy Lane’s critically acclaimed Young Sherlock Holmes book series, starring Hero Fiennes Tiffin in the title role. Guy Ritchie is set to direct and executive produce the eight episode series, which will premiere exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.

“Young Sheldon,” ended on Thursday night after seven seasons – but, that’s not the end of the line. A third show in that universe is in the works on CBS, called “Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage.” Premiering in fall 2024 and helmed by Chuck Lorre, Steven Molaro, and Steve Holland, the series will follow Sheldon’s brother, George “Georgie” Cooper Jr.(Montana Jordan) as he marries and has a kid with Mandy McAllister (Emily Osment). “Honestly, just as we watched those two actors in the last couple of seasons [of ‘Young Sheldon’] and how much fun they were on screen, it became clear that this could be a fun thing to follow,” Holland told The Post.
