Workmen have been spotted on the roof of Old Trafford - a day after shocking footage showed storm water gushing through it.
Floodwater could be seen cascading from the corner of the roof as a thunderstorm struck during the final stages of Manchester United's Premier League defeat to Arsenal at the Theatre of Dreams on Sunday. The club said 1.6 inches of rain came down in the two hours after the final whistle, which is more than half of what fell on Old Trafford throughout the whole of May 2023.

Pictures taken outside the ground today showed a group of workmen assessing the roof. Three men wearing safety harnesses, helmets and hi-vis jackets could be seen on the top of the Stretford End.

"It's pure coincidence," they added. "It was always scheduled for today.
"There's constant maintenance carried out on our infrastructure. It's nothing to do with the rain."
