A mother-of-three attacked her uncle in revenge for an allegation of historic abuse against her children. The woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, went to her uncle’s house saying she was ‘visiting for a chat’.
She then confronted him about the allegations, which he denied, Manchester Crown Court heard. She then produced a kitchen knife, which she had been hiding behind her back, and lunged at the man.
The blade made ‘slight contact’ with his body, before he placed her in a headlock to remove her from the house. As she left, she told him she would ‘kill him’.

The police had investigated the allegations but took no further action, the court heard.
Pleading guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm, the woman was handed a suspended prison sentence.
Prosecuting, Hannah Forsyth said the woman went round to her uncle’s house on August 22 this year. As he opened the door, she stood with one hand behind her back and said she was visiting him ‘for a chat’.
“He allowed her in, and following a brief conversation it became apparent that she had been drinking,” Ms Forsyth said.
“The conversation changed in tone and the defendant asked about what had happened to her son. She was referring to the suspicions of abuse of her sons at his hands.
“When investigated by the police, no further action had been taken. He denied doing anything and she became aggressive as she didn’t believe him.”
The woman then ‘lunged’ towards him with the knife, and left a ‘small puncture wound’, the court heard.
The prosecutor said the man didn’t realise it was there until the police pointed it out. He then removed her from his house before calling 999.
