Love Island mimics that of one’s relationship with a really, really good bag of crisps. Once you’ve enjoyed one particularly crispy, crunchy and sexy single crisp, you want another one. And another one.
And another. Then you’re sucking the bag dry in the dark. What we’re saying is, we have absolutely no qualms talking about a new series of Winter Love Island before we’ve even watched the first episode of the Love Island series eight (which starts next week, btw).
We want a whole bag of Love Island. Autumn and Spring Love Islands? Just saying. That’s right, Winter Love Island is rumoured to be returning to our screens later this year, after being axed in June 2020.Winter Love Island aired right at the beginning of 2020 (prior to the pandemic), was hosted by Laura Whitmore and starred the likes of Nas Majeen, Eve and Jess Gale (the twins!), Siânnise Fudge, and of course, meme queen Shaughna Phillips (of “congrats, hun” fame).
It was won by power couple Finn Tapp and Paige Turley, who are still together and going strong. Seriously, why and how was this cancelled? According to The Mirror, “Love Island bosses enjoyed the one and only series of Winter Love Island, but it was just before the pandemic raged so was shelved for 2021.” Ah, well that answers that question then. We should’ve got that one really, shouldn’t we? A tele insider added, “When they started casting for this summer’s series they thought there’s definitely enough talent to do a second series again so have started the plans for a 2023 Winter Love Island.
