Former Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata is back in the city this week to attend the Manchester International Festival.
The Spaniard spent eight seasons at Old Trafford and departed to join Galatasaray last summer. The 35-year-old helped the Turkish outfit win the league title in his debut season.
Mata has been seen back in Manchester this week with an appearance at the Manchester International Festival. He is combining two passions in his life, football and art, and will debut his new project 'The Trequartista: Art and Football United'.
Mata is working with the German-Indian artist Tino Sehgal for the piece, which will feature in the National Football Museum and the Whitworth Gallery.

’I feel at home, yes,’’ Mata told BBC's Morning Live team. ‘’When I was coming back last night, I was feeling the energy already. ’I lived for so many years here. I have so many friends [here]. So I feel at home here. I'm so happy to be here.’’
Speaking about his project, he added: ‘’I will say it's just curiosity, just feeding my curiosity. I like to do things far from football, sometimes to disconnect, and I got to know people in the art world and that's why we started this.
‘’This exhibition has been so fun. It's been a learning process for me, but a very nice journey and I'm enjoying it. We started because Hans Ulrich, who is the artistic directorat the Serpentine in London, the Serpentine Gallery, he's always tryingto connect different worlds, and he's trying now to connectthe art world with football.
‘’We got to know each other andwe're doing this together. And I think it's it's nice to actually show people the connection
