The Bank of England (BoE) will announce a potential change to the Base rate later today (March 21).
The latest figures, which will be taken into consideration in today's Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meeting, shows that inflation dropped a little faster than expected in February. Overall, it hit 3.4 per cent - its lowest level for two and a half years.
For the Bank, this is good news and may consider a shift on the committee to begin dropping rates. Today, the Bank will announce the new interest rate following a meeting which will presumably take place in the morning.

Previously, decisions have typically been announced from 12pm, therefore, we can expect the new interest rate to be announced anytime around midday.
While the latest inflation rates have signalled a positive turn for the economy, experts generally agree that rates will not be cut today. Instead, rates are expected to be cut later on in the year.
The direction of travel for UK inflation is certainly encouraging and supports the case for a policy easing in the near future,” said Ellie Henderson, an analyst at Investec, yesterday.
“Our base case is for a first interest rate reduction in June.
“Furthermore, it is not just about actual inflation, expectations play a strong part too.
“As inflation expectations fall, but the nominal policy rate remains constant, the real rate of interest rises, resulting in a tightening in monetary policy, without the Bank actually changing its stance.
“The MPC will have that in mind when deciding on the appropriate time to cut interest rates.
