When Kerry Thomas and James Berry noticed their daughter Lola was vomiting every morning, they immediately thought it was strange.
Kerry, from Swinton, took the five-year-old to see a doctor but believed her symptoms were nothing to worry about. A concerned GP referred the pair straight to A&E where further tests and scans were carried out.
Tragically, Kerry had her worst nightmares realised when Lola’s results came back – she had a brain tumour.

The 39-year-old, who is also mum to 11-month-old Daphne, has revealed the heartbreaking moment she was given her daughter’s diagnosis. “That was the end of life as we knew it and the start of a new one,” the photographer told the Manchester Evening News.
“I had absolutely no idea what they were looking for. I thought we would be home that afternoon. We were like, ‘Let's get this bit done and go home,’ that’s genuinely what I thought.
“Then obviously she had the scan and the doctor came into the room with me and a few other people and asked me to come through to the other room.
“You just feel your blood run cold because you don’t know what it is. He told me what they had found and what they suspected it was. It was like an out-of-body experience, being told that about your child who is in the room next to you.
“I had to get up and go back into the room and be all smiley again. It’s just darkness, that’s all I can explain. It’s just this darkness.”
Lola underwent surgery the day after her diagnosis to remove the tumour. She then began a seven-week course of radiotherapy treatment, having 36 sessions in total.
