Sir Jim Ratcliffe wants to instil a ruthless focus on creating a winning environment on the field. That's the message he shared during an introductory sit-down with Manchester United Supporters Trust (MUST) after attending his first Premier League match at Old Trafford since completing his 25 per cent minority takeover.
Investment from the INEOS founder worth £1.25billion was rubber-stamped on Christmas Eve and remains subject to Premier League ratification. That process usually takes between six and eight weeks.
Ratcliffe headed to Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon to watch United for the first time since he stepped into their boardroom. He addressed journalists before the game and even sat alongside legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson once the top-flight action got underway.

United were held to a draw by Tottenham despite twice going ahead in front of their watching co-owner. Rasmus Hojlund and Marcus Rashford were on target in a high-octane draw.
Ratcliffe's visit to Old Trafford, naturally, drew widespread attention. It was followed by the 71-year-old meeting up with the MUST Board for their first bilateral meeting.
Sir Dave Brailsford, Jean-Claude Blanc and senior officials from United were also in attendance. However, it was the presence of Ratcliffe that came with a promise as INEOS get ready to head-up footballing operations.
