Being linked with some of the biggest stars in world football comes with the territory of supporting Manchester United.
One of the more implausible household names to be mentioned in the same breathe as the Reds is PSG's Brazilian winger Neymar. The 31-year-old was reportedly unhappy in the French capital after the club's failure to progress deep in the Champions League again.
It was claimed a move to United would be something which interested the South American after they secured their return to the Champions League last season. Erik ten Hag was even quizzed about the possibility of signing Neymar in a press conference last month.
As we await United's first foray into the transfer market this summer, MEN Sport has taken a closer look at the highly unlikely possibility of Neymar moving to Old Trafford.
In a pre-match press conference, the Dutchman was asked whether Neymar was a player of interest to him. He replied coyly: "When we have news we will tell you."
Ten Hag's tight-lipped response is unsurprising as it was a stock answer and did not indicate or hint at any interest in the star.
Recent reports suggested United may look to do business with PSG if Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani completed his purchase of the Reds. The Parisians are owned by Qatari Sports Investments and due to the Sheikh's nationality, it was claimed there could be an opportunity for a working relationship between the two clubs.
Kylian Mbappe was also rumoured to be a target for Sheikh Jassim, too. Again - an unlikely transfer.
While the transfer market is ever-changing, it would seem unlikely Neymar would sign for United. At the moment, it is suggested the switch would be dependent on Sheikh Jassim completing his takeover which is by no means
