EXCLUSIVE: Well Go USA Entertainment has acquired North American rights to Aporia, a previously unannounced sci-fi thriller from Armian Pictures starring Judy Greer (Halloween Kills), Edi Gathegi (The Harder They Fall), Payman Maadi (A Separation) and Faithe Herman (Shazam!). The film, written and directed by Jared Moshé (The Ballad of Lefty Brown), is slated for release in theaters in August. (Check out the first still from it above.)
Aporia follows Sophie (Greer), who since losing her husband Mal (Gathegi) in a drunk-driving accident, has struggled to manage crippling grief, a full-time job, and the demands of parenting her devastated teenage daughter (Herman). When her husband’s best friend (Maadi), a former physicist, reveals he and Mal had been building a time-bending machine that could restore her former life, Sophie will be faced with an impossible choice — and unforeseeable consequences.
The film is produced by Neda Armian (Rachel Getting Married) and T. Justin Ross (The Old Ways). Exec producers include David Lawson, Peter Van Steemburg, Dennis Walker, Doris Pfardrescher, Christopher Alender, David A. Smith, Tyler Gould, Matthew Helderman and Luke Taylor, in association with Soapbox Films and with financing provided by BondIt Media Capital. Sunday Boling and Meg Morman handled casting.

Chloe Madeley will star in a new ITVX reality series following her life as she navigates being a first-time mother alongside her husband and former England rugby player James Haskell. At Home With The Madeleys will focus on the daughter of TV presenters Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan after welcoming daughter Bodhi last year, ITV have said. The series will showcase the Madeley family dynamic as Chloe’s husband, sports star Haskell, forges a new career as a DJ.

Netflix has released a series of first-look images for Season 2 of its romantic drama “Heartstopper,” which stars Kit Connor and Joe Locke and is set to premiere on Aug. 3. The second season will spotlight Nick (Connor) and Charlie (Locke) as they navigate the waters of their new relationship. Ahead of their prom, the students take a trip to Paris, and this group of friends realizes they have “a lot to juggle as they journey through the next stages of life, love and friendship.” Season 2 will star Connor and Locke alongside Yasmin Finney, William Gao, Corinna Brown, Kizzy Edgell, Sebastian Croft, Tobie Donovan, Rhea Norwood, Jenny Walser, Cormac Hyde-Corrin and Olivia Colman.

Starz has set a late summer premiere date for Season 2 of Power Book IV: Force. Naman Ramachandran Entertainment One (eOne) has solidified its collaboration with U.K. independent production company Hardcash Productions through an exclusive first-look agreement. Under the deal, brokered by Kate Cundall, eOne’s VP of acquisitions, and Robin Barty-King, Hardcash’s business affairs consultant, the partnership aims to develop and produce investigative factual content for the global market. eOne will handle international rights for all projects resulting from this collaboration. The first images of actress Mischa Barton in the iconic Australian soap Neighbours have been released ahead of her debut on the show. It was confirmed by Amazon Freevee that the 37 year old American actress would be joining the show back in April and now it appears she is settling in well.

Naman Ramachandran Amazon Freevee has released the first images of Mischa Barton in the revival of long-running Australian soap “Neighbours,” production on which started April 17 in Melbourne. The images also feature cast members Jackie Woodburne and Alan Fletcher. The new series will premiere exclusively for free on Amazon Freevee in the U.K. and U.S. this fall and will include streaming rights to thousands of episodes from the previous seasons, which will be available prior to the new series’ premiere. The series will also stream on SVOD counterpart Prime Video in Australia, New Zealand and Canada. Australia’s Network 10, the home of “Neighbours” for 36 years, will retain first-run rights in the country.

“Heels” returns for season two on Friday, July 28 at midnight (ET) on the Starz app. Starring Stephen Amell (“Arrow”) and Alexander Ludwig (“Vikings”), the small-town drama series based on a wrestling league in rural Georgia will also debut on linear on Starz at 10:00 PM ET/PT in the US and Canada on Friday, July 28.

Marta Balaga Brazil’s Lupa Filmes has revealed first-look images for Cristian Ponce’s upcoming survival horror “A Mother’s Embrace” ahead of its bow at Cannes’ Fantastic Pavilion, where genre industry professionals will also be treated to the sneak peak of the trailer. Previously behind animated webseries “The Kirlian Frequency”, acquired by Netflix, in 2020 Ponce directed big breakout “History of the Occult,” which marked his feature debut. The film was described as the highest-rated horror movie of 2021 on Letterboxd’s Year in Review roundup, as voted by users of the film rating social platform. Set in 1996, during one of the biggest storms to ever hit Rio de Janeiro, “A Mother’s Embrace” will see a team of firefighters trying to evacuate a nursing home at risk of collapsing. But its mysterious residents have other plans.
