Weeping in the dock, he knew he'd destroyed a family's life

This is the 'immature' man who wept in the dock as he was jailed for killed an innocent woman after mowing her down in his Mercedes.
Mohammed Chowdhury, 22, who had a 'fascination with fast cars', ploughed into 38-year-old Ibizugbe Joy Ikponnmwen as she crossed Alan Turing Way on the evening of October 25, 2021.
He reached 'excessive' speeds of around 80mph in a 30mph zone and was on a phone call moments before the fatal crash. Mrs Ikponnwme suffered catastrophic injuries and tragically she died in hospital that evening.

Chowdhury wept in the dock as he was sentenced at Manchester Crown Court on Wednesday (May 3) to five years and six months. He earlier pleaded guilty to causing death by dangerous driving.
The court heard that on the evening of October 25 2021, a blue Mercedes Benz G63, driven by Chowdhury, was seen driving at high speed along Alan Turing Way in east Manchester. One witness described hearing a 'loud engine noise' before the vehicle passed him at such a speed it caused his car to shake.
Further along Alan Turing Way, at around 9.05pm, the court was told Mrs Ikponnwme had finished her shift at work and was walking to catch the bus home. She reached the crossing at the junction with Ashton Old Road and crossed halfway to the central reservation.
Prosecutors said Mrs Ikponnwme thought it was safe to cross, before being hit by Chowdhury's Mercedes. Reconstruction experts calculated Chowdhury was driving between 79 and 81 mph.
The court was told that Mrs Ikponnwmen would have been visible and that if Chowdhury had have braked in time, the crash would have been avoided.
